Who Are We?

Founded in 2024, Communities Care is a youth-led grassroot initiative in Canada. It is dedicated to bringing youth together in our community, tackling barriers that young people face, and providing support and resources. Since our establishment, we've embarked on numerous endeavors, touching the lives of over 1000 young individuals through various events and drives. We take pride in our commitment to making a tangible difference, having distributed over 1200 kindness kits to youth in need across shelters and immigration centers.

Led entirely by youth from the Toronto area, our team embodies the spirit of resilience and determination. We understand the challenges and aspirations of our peers firsthand. We are not just advocates for youth; we are youth ourselves.

What sets us apart is our youth-centric approach. Together, we believe in the transformative power of community and the ripple effect of kindness. Our journey is not just about numbers; it's about the stories behind each act of kindness, the faces of those we've helped, and the hope we've ignited in their hearts.

Our Inspiration

Communities Care was born from a deeply personal experience of hardship and resilience. When our Founder/ Executive Director Nebiyou Timotewos and his family arrived in Canada in 2016, they found themselves in a challenging situation, spending seven months in a shelter with minimal resources, cramped together with their family of seven in a single room. Enduring the bitter winter of 2016 with only shirts and shorts, Nebiyou vowed to make a difference for other youth facing similar struggles. At just 12 years old, he made a heartfelt promise to return and help those in need. Years later, at 19, Nebiyou fulfilled that pledge by founding Communities Care. Drawing on his own experiences, he leads a team dedicated to empowering young individuals through initiatives like care packages, workshops, and community projects. Nebiyou's unwavering belief in the power of kindness drives the mission of Communities Care, ensuring that no youth faces adversity alone. Through our efforts, Communities Care has already impacted over 1000 young lives, providing essential items and spreading compassion and kindness throughout the community.
